Matanot La’Evyonim
Gifts to the Poor
On Purim, it is a mitzvah to give a monetary gift to at least two poor individuals—one gift for each person. The main obligation is to give on Purim day itself, so they can rejoice and celebrate the day’s meal with dignity.
As Maimonides writes, “There is no greater joy than to gladden the heart of the poor.” By fulfilling this mitzvah properly, one increases Jewish unity and brings blessing and sustenance for the entire year.
All donations are dedicated to support those in need in our community.
